About Me

I’m Harriet Edwards, a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) with over 15 years’ experience and a commitment to making the home‑buying process clearer, calmer and far better supported. I founded Cotswold Home Surveys to bring a modern, client‑focused approach to a profession that can feel outdated and impersonal.

My career began in Paris, supporting senior surveyors on pre‑acquisition surveys across commercial and residential properties. Returning to the Cotswolds, I completed my chartership and continued to deepen my technical knowledge.

Becoming a mum to my two boys reshaped my priorities. Instead of climbing the corporate ladder, I wanted to build a business that reflects my standards and the level of service homebuyers deserve. The turning point came when I commissioned a Level 3 survey on a property I hoped to buy. The report arrived at 2am with no follow‑up call. That experience confirmed I could offer something better — not just technically, but in how clients are treated.

Cotswold Home Surveys was created to raise the bar: thorough, evidence‑rich surveys paired with exceptional communication and a genuinely supportive client experience.

I explain things clearly, without jargon, ensuring clients feel informed rather than overwhelmed. To maintain the highest standards, I only work on one report at a time, giving each client my full attention — no rushing, no juggling.

I live in Wickwar on the western edge of the Cotswolds with my husband, a Chartered Construction Manager, and our two young boys. Outside work, I enjoy hilly Cotswold 10km runs or learning golf with my six‑year‑old — he’s currently better than me.
